Inka Deli

On Friday afternoon I stopped at the Inka Deli to try this Peruvian food restaurant.  The curb appeal is terrible and it doesn’t get any better when you come in.  Happy to meet me Victor greeted me and hit on the accustom conversation to learn where you are from, how long have you had this business running for and what is good here to eat while scanning the place, the kitchen and the dark brown older woman working in the kitchen.

“My mother in law,” pointed Victor when he noticed I was looking at the cook. “Good sign!” she looked like a real Peruvian with many good years of cooking experience, good sign!

Victor didn’t stop talking. We were the only patrons in the Restaurant at 4:30 pm that day. In my mind were the reviews of this place in the internet, “Bad service, great food” in that order. I was expecting the “bad service.” I know what you are thinking but, hey I’m just human, I make stories all day long!

I lived in Peru for a number of years and when it comes to food you most definitely start with a ceviche.  For you, that knows nothing about Peruvian food, let me tell you... “Is the best in the world!”

I order a ceviche without hesitations. It must have taken perhaps 10 minutes and the most amazing stuff was put in front of me. Without a shadow of a doubt the ceviche at the Inka Deli is to die for. What to drink with ceviche? Inka Cola of course.

The first bite through me into heaven. The taste at first acid from the lemon, the smooth texture of the fish, the crunchy purple onion and only god knows what else they put makes heaven explodes in you. Can’t taste the celery, cilantro, rocoto... the mix of all just a symphony of delight. You can get it spicy or not.

If you are a food addict like me... watch out!

I came back the same day after some Real Estate showings for more and yesterday I stopped for dinner and guess where I am having for lunch today... yep! Ceviche at the Inka Deli.

There is more to explore in this place.

I admit that I am faithful to my choices for food, and it has become almost impossible for me to try other dishes.

Bonne appetite!
